
Binh Yen Temple is located on Binh Yen Street, Ninh Khanh Ward, Ninh Binh City, Ninh Binh Province, recognized as a historical site in 2010. The temple is a place of worship and commemoration of Prime Minister La Gia, who had meritorious services to the people and the country, a historical figure during the Trieu Dynasty (207BC-116BC), a general with a spirit of national independence, not willing to depend on the government Han. In addition, the relic also worships Khau Son God (mountain god), 3 Queen gods of 2 families (Bui family and Hoang family). These are the first two families that contributed to the construction and construction of the temple.
Binh Yen Temple was built during the Later Le Dynasty in the style of a mallet (). The temple is located in a peaceful, rustic space. The architecture is built harmoniously, creating a beautiful and solemn landscape.
At the relic, a number of precious artifacts and worship objects are still preserved such as: 01 dragon throne and tablet of the Later Le Dynasty; 03 incense bowls of the Later Le Dynasty; 01 Vietnamese bronze awl of the Le Dynasty; 01 vintage stone platform bed of the Nguyen Dynasty; 01 great painting; 02 sets of eight weapons (Nguyen, Hau Le); Dishes, decanters and ceramics of the Qing Dynasty....8 decree bestowing titles (made of paper): including 06 decree bestowing titles for Prime Minister La Gia: 02 decree bestowing titles in the 44th year of Canh Hung's reign (1783) ; 01 decree bestowing title in the first year of King Chieu Thong's reign (1787); 01 decree bestowing title in the 5th year of King Quang Trung's reign (1792); 01 decree bestowing title in the 4th year of King Canh Thinh's reign (1796); 02 decree bestowing titles in the 9th year of King Khai Dinh's reign (1924) and 02 decree bestowing titles for god Khau Son: 01 decree bestowing title in the 1st year of King Thanh Thai's reign (1889); 01 decree bestowing title in the 9th year of King Khai Dinh's reign (1924).
This shows the high awareness of preserving cultural heritage of local people. These are important historical sources that help us study the process of formation and existence of the temple.
During the resistance war against the French colonialists (1945-1954), the temple was used as a food warehouse for the nation where Dai Nhan commune soldiers and guerrillas gathered to besiege and harass enemy posts. The temple is also a station to receive documents from the information team (Ha Nam Ninh)
During the resistance war against US imperialism (1954-1975), the temple was the place to open popular education classes, eliminate illiteracy among poor people, and later was the first primary school class in Ninh Khanh commune, where 229 Regiment was stationed. Anti-aircraft Artillery Regiment 229 protects Ninh Binh Town and Non Nuoc Bridge.
Currently, the relic is well cared for and protected by the State and people, in order to promote the effectiveness of the relics, contributing to educating pride and love for the homeland and the country for future generations.
